What are flexible circuits
Flexible circuits are thin flexible substrates with conductive traces printed on them and surface mounted components. The final product is an affordable, light weight, flexible circuit that can be used in a variety of applications. Flexible circuitry can be either printed conducted traces on a thin plastic substrate or an etched copper circuit. Flexible circuits have advantages over traditional rigid printed circuit boards in reduced costs, shorter lead times, lower tooling costs, and the ability to have a thin flexible circuit that can be applied to a multitude of applications with complex shapes and tight spaces.
Flexible Circuits can be used in a variety of applications. They can be used as an alternative to a rigid PCB, as an antenna, a sensor array, or as a base layer of a membrane or capacitive switch.
